Tour Details

This tour focuses mainly on the former Jewish Ghetto, the marais, which, for the past 500 years, has also been a hot bed for gay activity. During an introduction you will learn about why this area has been a refuge for minorities. Your guide will weave you through the streets where many gays in Paris found refuge, such as Rue des Archives, Rue du Temple, and Rue du Roi de Sicile. Learn about how the gays of Paris helped turn around one of the least desirable quarters in the district and how they are trying to keep this area alive. Your guide will also take you to famous sites such as the Place des Vosges, Rue des Rosiers, and the oldest still-functioning gay bar. Of course, this tour would not be complete without a photo op at the “rue des mauvais garçons” which has long had its name due to the bad boys who used to loiter there!
