Tour Details

Meet your at Place de la Bastille, where the French Revolution began on July 14, 1789.  After a brief introduction about the French Revolution, your guide will direct your attention to the square in front of you where you can see the outline of where the Bastille prison once stood.  Afterwards, follow in the steps of the revolutionaries as you make your way to the Marais district.  This district, once synonymous with nobility, was greatly affected by the revolution.  Your guide will lead you through the narrow medieval streets where you can see what remains of this wealth and learn about the revolutionary events that unfolded there.  Once out of the Marais you will make your way to the Hôtel de Ville and the Tour de Saint Jacques, both of which were ransacked during the revolution.  From there, you will continue to the Conciergerie where you will learn all about the reign of the terror as well as the trials and executions of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette.  The tour will come full circle at the famous flower market on the Ile de la Cité, which was inaugurated by Napoleon who brought an end to the revolution.
